Not your typical bicentennial

February 12, 2009 amazingly marks the 200th anniversary of the births of both Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin.

Naturally, NPR is all over this with a well-done birthday tribute to Honest Abe

Additionally, this great piece on Darwin compares his controversial status in the United States to his standing as Britain’s hero.

After you’ve listened to those segments, check out Smithsonian magazine’s fantastic feature on how Darwin and Lincoln’s shared birth date may be an intriguing coincidence but secondary to how they shaped the modern world.
