Don’t call it a comeback

Another day, another reunion.  Now, of course, not every “comeback” is going to warrant attention around these parts.  (Yes, I am talking about you, No Doubt.)

But news of the reunion on the set of Curb Your Enthusiasm is definitely worth a few keystrokes.

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the Seinfeld cast of Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards will be appearing on-screen together in a multiple-episode story arc with Enthusiasm star (and former Seinfeld collaborator) Larry David this fall on HBO.

No firm dates have been scheduled for airing at this time, but Enthusiam fans were already excited for the long-awaited 7th (and likely final) season and this news raises the bar for what is now the longest-running active series in HBO’s impressive roster of original programming.

If you are a fan of Seinfeld, then you have probably already discovered the genius of Curb Your Enthusiasm.  If you have not, rest assured that you have options to get caught up on Seasons 1-6.

Personally, I have no doubt that Seinfeld was the greatest sitcom in American television history.  And I don’t say that lightly.  Larry David’s vision helped make that show what it was and I am always interested in any project that he takes on – even something as shaky as a new Woody Allen movie.

As for the reunion with the Seinfeld castmates, this may not be “must-see TV”, but it should make for an interesting twist to the ever-reaching Enthusiasm plotlines.

All but Richards have made separate cameos in past seasons.  Richards’ involvement will undoubtedly bring attention (and controversy) to the show due to his shocking (and indefensible) onstage tirade over 2 years ago.

More details to follow soon.  In the meantime, get ready for “The Summer of George”.
