Long live rock ‘n roll

It’s always a little unclear just what criteria are used for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

Other than the fact that artists are eligible for inclusion in the Hall twenty-five years after their first recording is released, I’m not really sure what the 600 or so voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation have to go on.

Regardless of the nuances of the selection process, the induction ceremony does provide a great opportunity to recognize some of the most influential artists of the “rock ‘n roll” era.

And every year brings an incredibly eclectic group of inductees together for a night of live performances and awkward induction speeches.

Tomorrow night’s event, returning to Cleveland (home of the Rock Hall) for the first time in 12 years, will be broadcast live on Fuse TV at 9pm ET.

This year’s performer inductees are: Jeff Beck, Little Anthony & the Imperials, Metallica, Run-D.M.C., and Bobby Womack.

Early Influence Category Inductee: Wanda Jackson.

Sidemen Category Inductees: Bill Black, DJ Fontana, and Spooner Oldham.

And, for all of you Metallica fans, looks like it will be a two-bassist band taking the stage at Cleveland’s Public Hall.  There should be a nice tribute to the late Cliff Burton as well, who will be represented at the ceremony by his father.
