Blogging with the best

So, I think we’ve done a pretty good job here at acme eclectic since we signed on at the beginning of the year.  Blogging is a labor of love, really, and I hope that the topics have been varied enough that there’s a little something for everyone.  That’s better than a lot of nothing for nobody, right?

All that aside, I have always had respect for the bloggers out there who choose to riff on a very specific topic.  There are great blogs out there on everything from basketweaving to hot air balloons, and a little research can lead to some very interesting revelations.

No disrespect to the mainstream media, but sometimes it takes a blogger to get to the heart of things.  And, in the case of Awful Announcing, the target is the media itself – with a focus specifically on, as founder Brian Powell characterizes it, “the perils and follies of the Sports Media”.

SI.com’s Extra Mustard interviewed Powell this week and it’s well worth the read for anyone interested in blogs, sports media, and/or “a certain ex-newspaper writer from Chicago”.

Check out Awful Announcing when you get a chance.  It showcases some of the best of what blogging is supposed to be about.
