Sleeps With Angels

Kurt Cobain is gone 15 years now.  Nirvana is the stuff of legend and the debate rages as to what it all meant anyway.

Kurt Cobain

He was found dead on April 8, 1994 along with a suicide note to an imaginary childhood friend.  I wish that there was something positive I could take from it, but I can’t and I won’t.

James Montgomery at, a teenager at the time, now sees a scruffy nobility as Cobain’s legacy.  Kurt Loder of MTV recounts his last encounter with Cobain and accurately states that he is still missed.

And the Seattle Post-Intelligencer marks the occasion by analyzing Cobain’s evolving legacy.

Me, I only wish there had been more of a legacy.  Cobain may have been a troubled soul who made some horrible decisions in his final days, but the body of work he left behind was beyond reproach.  This is no day for celebration, but it is a good day to experience his art with a fresh appreciation.
