Addicted To Vinyl

OK, it’s not quite on the level of a national holiday – yet.

We’ve talked about the resurgence of vinyl here at acme eclectic, and we are not alone.  Newspapers around the country, from Austin to Pittsburgh are taking this opportunity to reflect on the great passion of music lovers and their obsession with “brick and mortar” record stores.

Additionally, USA Today published a great feature on this celebration of “cool stuff”, providing insight into the genesis of the event along with some background on this year’s highlights.

Most exciting is the unique and exclusive material released by over 150 artists of varying genres and pedigree, including the ever-independent Tom Waits.  A full list of all of the Record Store Day releases can be found here.

If you love music, I recommend that you support these stores.  If you can’t make it out on Record Store Day, find a good excuse to drive, walk, or bike your way to a store in your city soon.  It’ll feel right to experience the music once again like it was meant to be.
