Prince is King

Tonight’s All-Star Home Run Derby brought out the best in the Milwaukee Brewers’ Prince Fielder, with 23 home runs (including an emphatic 503-foot shot) in the home ballpark of the rival St. Louis Cardinals and the first Home Run Derby title in the history of the Brewers’ franchise.

Fielder may be known as one of the most notable vegetarian athletes, but meat or no, he certainly accomplished his goal to “just hit the ball hard” tonight.

The familiar pitching of last-minute selection Sandy Guerrero, a mentor of Fielder’s during his minor league days and currently the Nashville Sounds hitting coach, was a major factor as well.
