The Eternal Sunshine of Nails’ Mind

Roll the tape.  That’s all I’ve really got to say.  Just roll the tape and experience for yourself what is going on right now in the mind of Lenny Dykstra.

In case you missed the news, the former MLB All-Star outfielder for the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this month.  That news is all the more remarkable when you consider his noted status as a “financial genius” in his post-ballplaying days.

This must-see video from The Young Turks runs about 11 minutes and covers all the highlights and lowlights of the Dykstra saga, including an extended look at the trailer for something called “The World According To Lenny”.

Actually, the world of Lenny Dykstra was exposed as something completely different recently in Kevin Coughlin’s feature in the April issue of GQ titled, “You Think Your Job Sucks? Try Working For Lenny Dykstra”

For any sports fan who can still remember Dykstra as a key component of that 1986 Mets’ World Championship team (tagged with the perfectly descriptive nickname of “Nails”), you will struggle mightily to come to grips with how the man is portrayed here.

But wait, there’s more.  As detailed in the Bankruptcy Beat blog of the Wall Street Journal, Dykstra was a guest on this morning’s Dan Patrick Show and gave his version of where things stand in the wake of his recent bankruptcy filing.

WSJ does a nice job of providing details of the interview but I highly recommend that you take the time to listen to the entire interview for yourself, available on Dan Patrick’s page at SI.com.

Dykstra wants the world to know that he’s still doing well.  Among the many classic quotes from the rambling conversation is this one: “Just remember dude, everything isn’t what it appears.”

In the interview, Dykstra discusses his streak of 115 consecutive investment winners.  Umm, feel free to become a member of Nails Investments for more details.

We’re heading into the weekend here, people.  Certainly you can break off a few minutes for some enlightening, unadulterated audio and video featuring one of the most amazing sports personalities you will ever encounter.

Just roll the tape(s).  Your life may never be the same.
