This just in – Ethier does it again

What more can Andre Ethier accomplish in this amazing season of leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to the N.L. West division title?

Not only does he now have 40 doubles and 30 HR’s to go with his 98 RBI (all career highs), but it’s his consistent ability to deliver in the most dramatic moments that makes his performance this season the true difference-maker for the Dodgers.

He did it – again – tonight.  The Dodgers have 12 walk-off wins this season and six of them are directly attributable to hits by Ethier.

For the 4th time this season, that winning hit was an Ethier long ball as his home run tonight gave the Dodgers a come-from-behind 5-4 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates in 13 innings.

And the man who was once traded straight-up for Milton Bradley and wasn’t even drafted out of high school will now undoubtedly be one of the leading vote-getters in the 2009 MVP balloting.

I don’t see this Dodgers team making a run at the World Series, but keep an eye out for Ethier in the upcoming playoffs.  No team is going to want to see him at the plate with a chance to win the game.  This season, it’s over.  Amazing stuff.
